Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour (For thickening gravy)
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and let them rest while you prepare the gravy.
  3. In an oven-safe skillet, brown the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden. Remove them from the skillet and set them aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions in butter until they are translucent.
  5. Add the flour and stir for 2 minutes, then whisk in the beef broth and cream.
  6. Nestle the patties back into the gravy and cover tightly.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in your favorite herbs like parsley or thyme into the meat mixture. If you want a thicker gravy, add more flour until you reach your desired consistency.
