Description

A fun and delicious basketball-themed cake perfect for sports fans and celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Orange fondant
  • Black fondant
  • Buttercream frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, frost the cake with buttercream.
  8. Roll out the orange fondant and cover the cakes to resemble a basketball.
  9. Use the black fondant to create the lines of the basketball.
  10. Serve and enjoy!

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing. Use cornstarch to prevent fondant from sticking when rolling it out.
