Description
Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, Chinese Meat Pies, or Xian Bing, are a delicious dish perfect for any time of day.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup hot water
- ¼ cup cold water
- 200g ground beef or pork
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with the hot water and cold water to form a dough. Knead until smooth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix together the ground beef or pork, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into a circle.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each circle, fold in half, and seal the edges.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the meat pies until golden brown on both sides and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Serve hot.
Notes
Serve with a dipping sauce or alongside steamed vegetables or a light salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
