Soft sugar cookies topped with creamy buttercream frosting in festive fall colors.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
Gel food coloring in fall shades
Instructions
1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
2. Beat in eggs and vanilla until smooth.
3. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
5. Chill dough for 30 minutes, then roll and cut shapes.
6. Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes and let cool.
7. Whip buttercream until fluffy, add vanilla and cream.
8. Tint frosting with gel colors and pipe designs onto cooled cookies.
Notes
Chill dough for easier handling.
Use gel food coloring for vibrant fall shades.
Store decorated cookies in an airtight container for 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
