- 8 center cut pork chops
- 2 pounds sauerkraut, drained
- 1 large red apple, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large nonstick skillet, heat over medium-high heat and brown the pork chops on both sides for about 5 minutes each.
- Transfer the browned pork chops to a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix together the drained sauerkraut, diced apple, chopped onion, brown sugar, and caraway seeds.
- Spread the sauerkraut mixture evenly over the pork chops and cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
- Place the covered dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Serve the dish hot directly from the baking dish.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the pork chops in your favorite spices or a bit of mustard before cooking. You can also add sliced carrots or potatoes for extra vegetables. If you prefer a crispy texture, uncover the dish during the last 10 minutes of baking.
