Description

A delightful gluten-free dessert perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras, with a sweet filling and festive colors.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup colored sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix gluten-free flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, and add raisins if using.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and shape it into a circle.
  7. Place on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool and decorate with colored sugar before serving.

Notes

Wrap and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze slices for longer storage.
