Description
A quick and flavorful meal featuring ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese in a hoagie roll, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sauté onions and bell peppers for 3-5 minutes until tender. If using, add mushrooms and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push vegetables to the side and add ground beef. Cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; mix for 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, place cheese over beef mixture, cover, and allow cheese to melt for 2-3 minutes.
- Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- Spoon beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
- Optionally, toast the rolls before serving. Serve hot with sides like fries or salad.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider using different types of cheese like cheddar or Swiss. Make sure to cook the beef completely to avoid any pinkness.
