Description

Delicious homemade Twinkies that bring back childhood memories with a customizable twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Twinkie pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared Twinkie pan, filling each mold about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before removing from pan.
  8. For the filling, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  9. Once the cakes are cool, fill with whipped cream using a piping bag.
  10. Enjoy your homemade Twinkies!
