Description

A delicious dessert combining chocolate cake and creamy ricotta cheese, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 15-ounce containers of ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 15.25-ounce box of chocolate or devil’s food cake mix
  • 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 5-ounce box of instant chocolate pudding
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 8-ounce container of whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ricotta cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add 4 eggs and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, prepare chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Combine cake mix, oil, water, and 3 large eggs. Mix until blended.
  4. Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into the greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Spoon the ricotta mixture over the chocolate batter and pour the remaining chocolate cake batter on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  7. While the cake is baking, whisk together instant chocolate pudding and cold milk until thick.
  8. Once cooled, spread chocolate pudding over the top of the cake and finish with whipped topping.

Notes

For best results, ensure ricotta cheese is at room temperature. Optionally, add chocolate chips to the chocolate batter for extra flavor.
