Description

A classic breakfast sandwich featuring a savory sausage patty, fluffy egg, melted cheese, and a toasted English muffin. Perfect for busy mornings or a homemade McDonald’s-inspired treat!

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 English muffin, split and toasted
  • 1 sausage patty (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting)

Optional Add-Ins

  • Whole wheat or gluten-free muffin for a healthier option
  • Turkey or plant-based sausage for a lighter alternative
  • Hot sauce or ketchup for extra flavor

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sausage

    • If using ground pork, shape into a 3-inch patty and season with salt, pepper, and sage.
    • Cook in a skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked.
  • Cook the Egg

    • Use a round egg mold for the classic McMuffin shape.
    • Crack the egg into the mold and cook on low heat for 3-4 minutes until set.
    • (For a soft yolk, cover the pan while cooking.)
  • Toast the English Muffin

    • Butter the cut sides and toast in a skillet or toaster until golden brown.
  • Assemble the McMuffin

    • Place the cooked sausage patty on the bottom half of the muffin.
    • Add the egg and cheese slice on top.
    • Cover with the top muffin half and press lightly to melt the cheese.
  • Serve & Enjoy

    • Wrap in foil for a grab-and-go breakfast or enjoy fresh with a side of coffee or juice.

Notes

  • For a Healthier Version: Use turkey sausage and a whole wheat English muffin.
  • For a Vegan Version: Swap for plant-based sausage, vegan cheese, and a tofu “egg” patty.
  • Make Ahead: Freeze assembled McMuffins individually wrapped, then reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
