Description

A delicious way to use leftover sourdough discard, these biscuits are quick to prepare and deliver a cheesy flavor with a hint of spice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter, cheddar cheese, and sourdough discard to the dry ingredients. Mix until a large dough ball forms.
  4. Divide the dough into 9 equal portions and drop them onto the baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are firm and slightly golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and cool for 3-5 minutes on the pan, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Notes

Best served warm. Can be paired with soups, salads, or enjoyed with butter or jam.
