Delicious, fudgy brownies made with sourdough discard for a unique flavor twist.
Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
- Stir in the sourdough discard until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
Best served warm or at room temperature, optional to serve with ice cream or chocolate sauce.
