Delicious chai-infused sugar cookies with a sweet glaze, perfect for sharing with friends or enjoying with a warm drink.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, browned
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves).
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- While the cookies cool, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and allow it to set before serving.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
Notes
Brown your butter carefully for a nutty flavor. Don’t overmix the dough; it should be just combined for the best texture.
