Description

A flavorful pizza crust made using sourdough discard, simple to prepare, and perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the water, sourdough discard, and olive oil. Stir well.
  2. Slowly add in the flour and salt. Mix until a rough dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for about 4 to 6 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  4. Once risen, lightly flour your work surface, turn the dough out, and divide it into 2 or 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, cover with a towel, and let rest for about 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone inside if you have one.
  6. Take one dough ball, stretch it out on a floured surface, and shape it into your desired pizza size. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet, top with sauce and toppings, and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
  7. Serve hot from the oven, cut into slices.

Notes

Experiment with different toppings and sauces to customize your pizza. For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone and ensure your oven is fully preheated.
